Dr Philip Masson

Consultant Nephrologist
Dr Masson is a consultant Nephrologist at the Royal Free Hospital. He qualified from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2003 having undertaken pre-clinical studies at the University of Oxford. Dr Masson then trained in Nephrology and General Internal Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and other hospitals throughout South East Scotland.
In 2015, Dr Masson was awarded his PhD from Sydney School of Public Health, University of Sydney for his thesis “Improving outcomes for people with chronic kidney disease.”
Dr Masson has interests in clinical transplantation (including living donor assessment, long-term follow-up and low clearance transplantation) and general nephrology (including new presentations, long-term follow-up of chronic kidney disease).
He is the Trust Specialty Educational Lead for the renal department, and is also actively involved in clinical research.
