Mr Saksena qualified from the University of Dundee, Scotland, before undertaking surgical training in Australia and The Royal London Hospital. During his orthopaedic specialist training he undertook a specialist hip fellowship with Miss Sarah Muirhead-Allwood and Professor Fares Haddad. He has also undertaken fellowship training in knee surgery and sports surgery of the knee.

Clinical interests
Mr Saksenaโs clinical interest and experience lies in hip and knee reconstructive surgery. He is able to offer a tailored service to his patients as he performs joint preservation surgery through to ligament reconstruction and hip and knee replacement. He also helps patients who are looking towards non surgical options to manage their condition using advanced rehabilitation techniques, bracing and biologics.ย Where appropriate he uses 3D computer planning and custom implants in addition to cutting edge care using stem cells and platelet rich plasma, collating his outcomes.
Special interests
Mr Saksena is passionate about his role as the Director of Medical Education and places a strong emphasis on postgraduate orthopaedic training. He lectures on a number of orthopaedic courses and is an author reviewer for a number of prestigious journals. Mr Saksena is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the AO Alumni. He is passionate about innovation in orthopaedics and has been involved in the design and testing of a number of orthopaedic hip and trauma procedures. He works within a group structure at Total Orthopaedics, that exists to provide a multi-specialty service with the benefits of collaborative and innovative working. Mr Saksena lives in North London with his wife (Anaesthetist) and two boys who occupy the remainder of his time.
Research interests
Mr Saksenaโs research interests lie in improving surgical and quality of life outcomes. ย His aim is to provide enhanced recovery by adopting approaches that improve the whole patient journey from pre-operative assessment to post-operative rehabilitation. He has collaborated with the National Institute for Health Research on patient related outcome measures and has published and presented his research work in Europe and the USA. Mr Saksena uses the MyRecovery app to enhance patient wellness, aid recovery and measure outcomes and feedback.
