Mr Bajekal attended medical school in JIPMER, Pondicherry and completed his MS in Orthopaedics at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
Following his studies in India, Mr Rajiv relocated to the UK and worked in Norwich as a surgical trainee for the Royal Free London NHS Trust on rotation as a Registrar/Senior Registrar. He then completed his MCh from Liverpool and obtained a Consultant post with Doncaster/Bassetlaw NHS Trust in 1998. From there, he left to pursue his current post at The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Rajiv is a Senior Examiner for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He also lectures on a range of orthopaedic and spinal topics nationally and internationally. He has published widely and written chapters in various Orthopaedic books.
Mr Bajekal has a special interest in sciatica and back pain. He has developed a pragmatic approach to managing back pain and sciatica with non-surgical techniques, injections and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He regularly performs discectomy, decompressions and spinal fusions by minimally invasive techniques.
Recently, Mr Rajiv completed a new degree in Lifestyle Medicine from the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
