60 seconds with Bemi Fashina
We would like to welcome Bemi, PPU’s new divisional quality governance facilitator. Bemi very kindly shared with us some insights about her.
Why did you choose to work for RFL PPU?
Choosing to work for RFL PPU was such an easy decision for me as I had read and heard so many great things about the unit. I also have a relative that is a regular patient of the unit and always had positive things to say about the unit. Comments I always heard were that excellent treatment was always provided, staff are always helpful and friendly – nothing is too much for them and the unit is always clean. It was a dream come true for me when I saw the opportunity to apply for the Divisional Quality Governance Facilitator role and got the job!
What and where was your previous job role?
I was a Patient Advice and Liaison Service Officer in Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust). I was the first point of contact to service users, dealing with complaints, offering information, advice and support. I helped facilitate service improvements across the Trust.
What excites you about working in governance?
What excites me is the continued opportunity to assist service users resolve concerns and/or complaints, drive quality improvement & being part of an excellent and hardworking team.
What are you looking forward to in your new role?
I am looking forward to learning, developing my skills, taking on new challenges and supporting staff.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love sitting in my garden listening to the birds and watching the squirrels whilst having a lovely cup of tea. I also like listening to music and currently I’m reading ‘Behind Closed Doors’ by B.A Paris. Such an interesting book!!!
If you were transported today somewhere you can spend holiday, where is that place?
My favourite place to go on holiday is America.
